Recliner Rating:

RELEASE/ROUTE RUNNING

Burks lacks a consistent release package to beat press coverage at the next level. He’s at his best on short routes, where his athleticism helps him create quick separation. Despite his speedster reputation, his deep-route game is underdeveloped. He lacks the nuance, tempo, and defensive manipulation needed to separate consistently downfield.

PHYSICALITY

At his size, Burks plays with decent physicality but is naturally limited by his frame. He’ll be below average winning at the line of scrimmage or through contact on routes, though he’s solid at fighting for extra yards once he has the ball.

YARDS AFTER CATCH

Burks is really strong here. He transitions from receiver to runner instantly once the ball is in his hands and has the athleticism to turn short catches into big plays. He shows solid vision and shiftiness to make defenders miss in the open field.

ATHLETICISM

This is where Burks shines and the main reason he’ll hear his name called on draft day. He tested as an elite athlete at the Combine, with good long speed, acceleration, and the quickness that wins on routes and after the catch. That said, this level of athleticism doesn’t always translate when the pads come on.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Burks elite athleticism provides the upside bump, but he’ll need significant development in route running and release technique to become a true fantasy asset. He’s a player we’re not targeting in dynasty drafts.

BALL SKILLS

Burks is below average in this area. He has occasional concentration drops on tape, though he usually secures the catch. His catch radius and contested-catch ability are limited, so he thrives mainly on well-thrown, on-target passes. He does show solid body control when diving or making sideline grabs.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

Burks best team fit would be on a team that could utilize his elite athleticism, and get him in the ball in open space. The 49ers are one team that immediately come to mind.
