The top of the dynasty running back rankings is fairly settled, with Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs leading the position. The real value starts lower, where we're significantly higher than consensus on players like Bucky Irving and Cam Skattebo while remaining skeptical of the market prices on James Cook, Chase Brown and Kenneth Walker III.

Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs Are the Dynasty RB Standard

There wasn't much disagreement at the top.

Bijan Robinson is RB1, and the film continues to support it. He's an elite all-around talent with the rushing ability, receiving skill and workload to challenge for the overall RB1 finish.

Jahmyr Gibbs is RB2, and his situation may have improved with David Montgomery no longer sharing the backfield. More touches—especially near the goal line—could push Gibbs toward another massive fantasy season.

Ashton Jeanty follows at RB3. His rookie numbers didn't completely match the hype, but the offensive line deserves a significant part of the blame. The talent that made Jeanty an elite prospect is still there.

De'Von Achane rounds out our top four. Quarterback and offensive concerns are legitimate, but his explosiveness and receiving ability make it difficult to push him any lower.

Bucky Irving Is One of Our Biggest Dynasty Buys

Here's where we separate from consensus.

Bucky Irving sits at RB7 and RB8 in our rankings despite a consensus price around RB17.

The injury and Tampa Bay's changing backfield create some uncertainty, but we're betting on the player.

Irving's college film showed vision, elusiveness, receiving ability and the ability to create beyond what was blocked. He has since proven that skill set translates to the NFL.

Kenneth Gainwell may take some touches, but we don't view him as the type of back who should keep Irving from handling significant volume.

If the dynasty market is truly valuing Irving closer to RB17, we're buying.

James Cook's RB5 Price Is Too Aggressive

Both rankings placed James Cook at RB9, noticeably below his consensus value.

This isn't an argument that Cook isn't good.

He's productive, contributes as a receiver and has already established himself as a strong fantasy running back.

The issue is opportunity cost.

At RB5 prices, you're putting him alongside younger backs or players we believe have stronger overall talent profiles. Cook will also be 27 this season, reducing some of the long-term insulation that usually comes with an elite dynasty RB price.

He's comfortably a top-12 running back.

We're just not paying top-five dynasty RB prices.

Cam Skattebo Keeps Proving the Film Right

Cam Skattebo remains one of our favorite dynasty running backs.

Rupert ranked him RB13, while Matt had him RB16. Consensus sits closer to RB18.

The reason we're higher is simple: what happened in the NFL looked a lot like what we saw on his college tape.

Skattebo plays with power, contact balance and toughness while possessing more creativity and elusiveness than the “power back” label suggests. There was concern New York could bring in meaningful competition this offseason, but that didn't materialize.

Assuming his recovery stays on track, Skattebo has a legitimate opportunity to outperform his dynasty price again.

Chase Brown Is Productive—but the Film Still Creates Questions

Few players created more debate than Chase Brown.

Consensus has Brown around RB10. We ranked him RB17 and RB18.

The fantasy production is undeniable. Brown has also become a major receiving weapon, including 69 receptions on 88 targets last season.

Our hesitation comes from separating production from talent.

Brown plays in an elite passing offense with Joe Burrow and dangerous receivers spreading defenses out. That environment creates favorable opportunities underneath.

The question is whether Brown himself belongs alongside the ten most valuable dynasty running backs.

For us, the answer is still no.

If he puts together another high-end season, we'll have to adjust. But at current prices, we're letting someone else pay for the production.

Kenneth Walker III Gets the Patrick Mahomes Boost

Kenneth Walker produced one of our biggest ranking disagreements.

Consensus has him around RB11. Matt ranked him RB15, while Rupert had him at RB18.

Kansas City is obviously exciting. Playing alongside Patrick Mahomes should create more favorable running opportunities, and the Chiefs haven't had a back with Walker's talent in some time.

The concern is that landing spot can't erase everything we've already seen.

Durability has been an issue, receiving production hasn't always been consistent, and Walker hasn't established the same dependable fantasy floor as some players around him.

The Chiefs raise his ceiling. We're just not letting the logo completely change the evaluation.

Chuba Hubbard and Javonte Williams Offer Contender Value

The bottom of the top 24 is where contenders should pay attention.

Rupert ranked Chuba Hubbard RB21 compared to RB29 consensus. A high ankle sprain limited Hubbard last season, but we've already seen him produce an RB14 finish in a much worse Carolina offense.

Jonathan Brooks creates competition, but Hubbard could remain a valuable part of that backfield.

Javonte Williams also landed at RB20 for both hosts. His resurgence in Dallas showed that the talent didn't completely disappear after injuries derailed the early part of his career.

Neither player carries the dynasty excitement of a 22-year-old rookie.

But contenders don't need excitement.

They need points.

Final Dynasty Takeaway

The biggest lesson from our top 24 running back rankings is to avoid letting consensus replace player evaluation.

We're comfortable following the market on Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs and Ashton Jeanty.

We're buying players like Bucky Irving and Cam Skattebo because we believe the film supports a higher ceiling than their current dynasty price.

And we're more cautious with players like James Cook, Chase Brown and Kenneth Walker III, where situation or production may be pushing the market ahead of our talent evaluation.

At running back, values change quickly. Trust the film, understand the workload and don't be afraid to move away from consensus when the evaluation tells you to.
