Recliner Rating:

RELEASE/ROUTE RUNNING

Brown’s route running is a clear limiter right now. He lacks true explosion off the line and relies on a very basic release package, rarely using advanced techniques to consistently win leverage. His route tree is underdeveloped, mostly consisting of verticals and comebacks, and his straight-line speed doesn’t translate into sharp burst out of his breaks. Add in a smaller frame that allows defenders to disrupt him physically, and it caps his reliability as a separator.

PHYSICALITY

Brown struggles with physicality due to his smaller frame. Bigger and stronger defenders, which is most defenders, can easily knock him off his route and disrupt plays. This limitation shows up consistently on tape.

YARDS AFTER CATCH

Brown shows nice upside with the ball in his hands. He reads blocks well and uses his speed to pick up extra yards, but most of his YAC production comes on designed touches like screens. He rarely creates after the catch on non-scripted plays, limiting his week-to-week fantasy reliability.

ATHLETICISM

Brown is a high-level track athlete with legit downfield speed to stretch defenses. He accelerates quickly and reaches top speed fast, but that athleticism doesn’t consistently translate into functional play on the field.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

While he might potentially see some nice draft capital, it will be as a special teams ace at best. There is little upside to consistently gain points on your fantasy roster, and for that reason we would avoid drafting him.

BALL SKILLS

Brown’s ball skills are inconsistent. He’s prone to concentration drops and often lets the ball into his frame rather than extending. While he shows good body control and can adjust well, especially near the sideline, his lack of physicality limits his ability to win contested catches. One positive area of his game is his ability to track the ball well over his shoulder on downfield plays.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

Brown would best fit as a special team ace returning kicks and punts. We saw the impact special teams had on the Rams in the playoffs so they seem like the most natural fit.
