Despite his size, Douglas is a surprisingly explosive route runner. He is a twitchy athlete who creates separation at the stem by flipping his hips smoothly and bursting out of breaks. He uses his hands at times to effectively fight through contact and employs a sharp rocker step to win downfield.
PHYSICALITY
Douglas brings a commendable level of physicality to his blocking assignments, showing a willingness to put his body on the line and engage defenders directly. He also showed effective hands to fight through contact in routes at times. However, this toughness does not consistently translate to the catch point, where he struggles to establish position and fight for the football in traffic.
YARDS AFTER CATCH
Douglas is a proactive runner after the catch, consistently securing the ball with a plan in mind. He excelled in screen situations, displaying surprising quickness in short areas, while also showcasing the physicality required to break tackles and carry defenders for extra yardage.
ATHLETICISM
Douglas is a truly athletic receiver who boasts impressive deep speed and the ability to explode off the line for immediate separation. A twitchy athlete, he is dangerous in the open field, where his quickness allows him to create significant yardage after the catch.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
He has high end athleticism and utilizes sudden, twitchy movements and a smooth hip-flip to explode out of breaks and win at the stem. However, fantasy managers must weigh this impressive athleticism and route-running potential against significant inconsistencies with his ball skills. He is a boom or bust late round option in dynasty drafts.
BALL SKILLS
Ball skills are by far Douglas’s most significant deficiency, a disappointing reality for someone profiling as an X receiver. He possesses a limited catch radius and struggles with drops on film, likely stemming from inconsistent ball tracking. Additionally, he fails to impose his will in contested situations, which is unexpected given his physical stature and huge wingspan.
IDEAL TEAM FITS
Douglas would best fit on a team that spread the ball around to 4 plus different options and he can come in and work against other team's 3rd and 4th cornerbacks.
