Recliner Rating:

VISION/PATIENCE

It is worth noting that Heidenreich operated mainly as a WR in college but worked out as a RB at the combine so this is how we have graded him. Primarily used on designed slot sweeps, Heidenreich shows limited vision and creativity as a runner. He rarely identifies or utilizes cutback lanes, instead defaulting to bouncing runs outside. His patience is below average, opting to get to the edge quickly rather than letting blocks develop.

POWER/CONTACT BALANCE

Heidenreich displays inconsistent pad level and lacks play strength. He doesn’t generate much power at the end of runs, and is typically brought down by first contact. He rarely breaks tackles or fights through defenders

3RD DOWN SKILLSET

Heidenreich’s clearest path to fantasy relevance is through his receiving ability and his background as a primary wide receiver is obvious. He’s comfortable lining up in the slot, shows a polished release package, and separates early in routes with smooth hips and controlled footwork. He understands leverage well, creates throwing windows underneath, and finishes catches with strong, reliable hands even in traffic.

ATHLETICISM

Heidenreich lacks elite burst, acceleration, and long speed. He rarely pulls away from defenders in the open field and isn’t a dynamic playmaker once he gets to the second level. While he has enough speed to reach the edge, his quickness shows up more naturally in the passing game than as a traditional ball-carrier.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Heidenreich is a unique evaluation: he’s listed and worked out as a running back, yet he profiles far more naturally as a receiver. He’s missing several core traits you want at the position with vision, power, contact balance, and dynamic athleticism which caps his upside as a traditional runner. That said, his refined route-running, polished receiving skills, and reliability in the passing game make him an intriguing hybrid piece in the right offense.

ELUSIVENESS

He offers average elusiveness with decent foot quickness, mainly as a receiver. Heidenreich struggles to string moves together in space and lacks true elusiveness. He profiles as a one-cut runner without the burst or suddenness to consistently make defenders miss.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

Heidenreich will need a creative offensive coordinator to take advantage of his hybrid skillset and Ben Johnson seems like the perfect pairing.
