VISION/PATIENCE
Johnson possesses good vision, particularly at the second level, where he consistently strings multiple moves together to navigate traffic and create chunk plays. This is supported by an elite 88.1 run grade that ranked in the top 15 of FBS running backs in 2025. Despite playing very fast, patience is above average for Johnson, as he effectively waits for blocks to develop. However, he occasionally dances excessively in the backfield, bypassing clear yardage in search of a home run.
POWER/CONTACT BALANCE
Johnson compensates for a lack of overwhelming size with savvy contact balance and leverage. He consistently finishes forward, using body lean and quick weight shifts to slip or absorb tackles. Though he won’t truck defenders through the chest, he does a good job of keeping his feet moving after initial contact which contributes meaningfully to his explosive production.
3RD DOWN SKILLSET
Johnson is far more than a check-down option—he profiles as a true receiving weapon. He tracks the ball like a wide receiver, plucking passes away from his frame with soft, reliable hands (just one drop all season for a 2.1% drop rate). He has a great receiving profile with catching 46-of-54 targets for 370 yards and three touchdowns in 2025 and another 39 receptions in 2024. His advanced route-running for a running back makes him a matchup problem out of the backfield or aligned in the slot.

ATHLETICISM
Johnson is a plus athlete with solid game speed to break off long runs and not get caught from behind too often. His burst and acceleration allows him to explode our of cuts and to get to beat defenders to the edge. His quickness is elite as evident by his elusiveness.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Johnson's special open-field traits, elite elusiveness, and high-end receiving profile elevate him clearly to RB2 status in the 2026 class. We could envision him having the upside to become a weekly difference-maker in the right offense. We could see taking him as high as the end of the 1st and early 2nd round in rookie drafts.
ELUSIVENESS
Elusiveness is Johnson’s superpower, earning an elite grade from us. His filthy dead-leg cuts and has the coveted “stop-foot, go-foot” plant-and-explode ability make defenders miss in bunches. He forced 68 missed tackles in 2025 (sixth-most in FBS) and posted a 27.1% missed-tackle rate per carry. While not a pure power runner, he breaks tackles effectively (7/10 grade) by shifting his weight at contact, turning potential direct hits into glancing blows and maintaining balance through arm tackles.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

Johnson would be best going to a team that needs a dynamic back that can help open up things for the passing game. Minnesota seems like the perfect landing spot for his skillset.
