RELEASE/ROUTE RUNNING
McAlister is a smooth route runner for a bigger receiver, showing an average release and quick feet to gain leverage against press coverage. He plays with good physicality, using his hands effectively to fight through contact and stacking defenders well on deep routes. While he creates solid separation downfield, his route tree is somewhat limited in the short and intermediate areas.
PHYSICALITY
McAlister brings good physicality in the run game, showing willingness to lay defenders out as a blocker. He uses his hands effectively during routes to fight through contact. However, that same physicality is lacking at the catch point, where he is less dominant than expected for a receiver of his size.
YARDS AFTER CATCH
McAlister is very impressive after the catch. He consistently breaks tackles and keeps his legs churning through contact, running with an aggressive, physical “angry runner” style that allows him to fight for extra yards.
ATHLETICISM
McAlister displays good functional athleticism, highlighted by excellent long speed to challenge defenses vertically. He shows solid burst, though it can be inconsistent, particularly at the stem of routes. He flips his hips well and flashes quickness in breaks, but often takes extra steps that limit his sharpness and overall efficiency.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
His combination of vertical speed and strong YAC ability gives him intriguing upside, particularly as a best-ball option. Drop concerns remain an issue that must be addressed, but he is a worthwhile flier in the fourth round of rookie drafts.
BALL SKILLS
McAlister uses his frame well to offer a large catch radius, showing the ability to climb the ladder and adjust to throws outside his body. However, his hands remain inconsistent, with too many drops on routine catches. Despite his size, he also struggles to consistently box out defenders and win contested catches the way his build would suggest.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

McAlister would fit in a with a team needing a vertical field stretcher and a quarterback that has a good deep ball.
