MENTAL GAME

Nussmeier demonstrated the ability to work through full-field progressions and generally understood where to go with the football. He was effective at working the backside slants and dig routes. However, his anticipation needs improvement, as he often waited for receivers to come open rather than throwing them open. He also struggled significantly when the pocket collapsed, particularly after injuries along the offensive line.

ARM TALENT

When his lower body is properly aligned, Nussmeier can generate adequate velocity and drive the ball effectively. However, that consistency is lacking. He is prone to short-arming throws and missing high along the sidelines, and he struggles noticeably when throwing off platform. With a clean pocket, he can push the ball downfield and has several impressive deep shots on tape.

RUSHING/MOBILITY

Nussmeier shows flashes of opportunistic movement when defenses vacate space, displaying adequate quickness in short areas. However, he lacks the speed or elusiveness to consistently create explosive plays as a runner. He can escape the pocket, but extending plays outside of structure is not a strength.

MANAGEMENT

Nussmeier needed optimal conditions to function at a high level. When protection broke down or timing was disrupted, his play declined sharply. Missed routine throws and drive-killing sacks placed additional strain on the offense. While he operated within structure when things were clean, he did not consistently elevate the unit when adversity arose, raising questions about his situational command.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

There is more fantasy intrigue here than his inconsistencies might suggest. Nussmeier may be the most natural deep-ball thrower in this class, and many of his mechanical issues appear exacerbated by pressure rather than inherent limitations. With proper coaching and improved protection, there is developmental upside.

SUBTLE ARTS

The finer details of Nussmeier’s game require refinement. His mechanics deteriorate under pressure, often resulting in an upright delivery and inconsistent ball placement. He struggles to execute middle screens cleanly, and frequently has passes batted at the line of scrimmage. Additionally, he is prone to drifting backward when escaping pressure, leading to unnecessary sacks and negative plays.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

A structured system with strong protection would maximize Nussmeier’s strengths as a vertical passer. The Atlanta Falcons, working with Zac Robinson and a stable offensive line, would be an intriguing match. Sitting behind a veteran such as Matthew Stafford with the Los Angeles Rams could also provide valuable developmental time.
