Recliner Rating:

RELEASE/ROUTE RUNNING

Route running is not a strong suit for Royer, and his route tree is fairly limited. He benefitted greatly from some schemed plays to get him open like flat routes out of the backfield or delayed routes. He is able to run routes from the slot and in line.

YARDS AFTER CATCH

YAC is a huge strong suit for Royer and is why they schemed plays to get the ball in his hands quickly. He transitions very quickly to a runner once he has the ball and is a mac truck to bring down. PFF numbers back up what we saw on film, as they ranked him as top 5 in the class for YAC.

ATHLETICISM

In looking at Royer’s athleticism it is easy to see why his team wanted to get him the ball in space. He is a very good athlete after the catch, and has decent enough speed and explosion to challenge defenders down the field.

BLOCKING

Royer was below average at blocking and lacked consistency. Defenders were able to easily disengage for him in the run game. He was best used to block from the full back position or pulling in motion.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Royer is below average with route running and blocking, which makes it an uphill battle for him to become a contributor to fantasy rosters early. However, if he can continue to develop in those areas, his strong hands and YAC ability could help him find a contributing role on an NFL roster. Overall, he is likely a very late round rookie pick or waiver wire addition.

BALL SKILLS

Royer has excellent hands with no drops in 2025 and is able to hold onto catches through contact. He proves himself to be a reliable target for his QB, and this should continue well to the next level.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

Royer will need to go to a team that can utilize his hands and YAC ability, while not asking a lot of diverse route concepts. Teams that can get him the ball in open space would be ideal.
