Recliner Rating:

RELEASE/ROUTE RUNNING

Joly is an effective route runner for his size, demonstrating the ability to sink and explode in and out of breaks. He flashes sharp routes complemented by physical hand fighting, though consistency remains an area for growth. The film aligns with the data: he earned a 67.7 PFF grade against man coverage (27th nationally), but truly excels against zone, posting a 79.8 grade (4th-best in the country). His adept reading of linebackers and ability to throttle down into soft spots should allow him to win early and often at the next level, particularly if he refines his man-coverage releases.

YARDS AFTER CATCH

Joly is a legitimate YAC threat, transitioning seamlessly into a running back mindset after the catch. He drops his shoulder against smaller defensive backs, jukes linebackers and safeties, and generates chunk yardage with physicality and vision. While PFF metrics placed his YAC in the bottom 20%, we believe the film tells a different story

ATHLETICISM

His athleticism is a real plus, featuring strong game speed to separate from linebackers and safeties, paired with borderline-elite quickness for his size.

BLOCKING

Joly is an effective and willing blocker who frequently impacts the run game. Multiple reps show him springing running backs or wide receivers for big gains, particularly on pulling blocks and when climbing to the second level. There remains room for improvement in inline run blocking, but his overall effort and effectiveness in this phase add meaningful value to his profile.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

His elite ball skills, strong YAC ability, and zone-dominating route running provide a high floor, with considerable upside if he adds consistency to his route stems and physicality. We see excellent value in rookie drafts after the second round, positioning him as a potential riser with the right NFL opportunity.

BALL SKILLS

Joly’s ball skills are phenomenal and a defining strength. He boasts an elite 2% drop rate, snatching passes with strong, reliable hands and excellent technique. He thrives in contested situations, winning over 60% of opportunities while fighting through contact at the catch point. His body control stands out, allowing him to adjust and get low on throws. While his catch radius is solid rather than expansive (6’3” frame with average leaping ability), his overall reliability at the catch point is a major asset.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

Joly seems to be very scheme versatile as he could play as either an inline tight end or as more of a move tight end. I see a great path to him following in Kittle's footsteps under Kyle Shannahan in San Francisco.
