VISION/PATIENCE
Kaytron Allen showed great patience and vision on his Penn State tape. He is a high-IQ player who knows how to play the position. He waits for his blocks to develop and consistently chooses the right lane. He does not do much to create on his own, but he will be the type of back that will always get what is blocked for him.
POWER/CONTACT BALANCE
We thought that Allen had some nice physicality and power to his game. He runs with incredible pad level, and it was noted in our film watching that he always seemed to fall forward for extra yardage. He also showed borderline great contact balance to shift his body weight and keep his feet moving for extra yards when being tackled.
3RD DOWN SKILLSET
In our tiers of receiving, Allen falls in the 2nd tier. That is, he can catch the ball, but he is not a weapon or even someone you are worried about doing that. Even when he did make a catch, this observer noted that he did not look comfortable doing it. With that being said, he was good in pass protection and is a back that will keep his QB upright.

ATHLETICISM
This was another area that Allen struggled with. He just does not have NFL-level athleticism, and this is going to hurt him at the next level. There were so many times when he got caught from behind, where most backs would take it in for a touchdown. He has average burst, but low top-end speed, and he is just average when it comes to his short-area quickness.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Allen graded out for us at a 64.95, which puts him in the range of average backup. I feel confident saying this will be his career arc. He profiles as someone coaches will love, who might always be in the mix, like a Blake Corum, but will never really do much for your fantasy team unless the guy in front of him gets hurt. He is not someone we would take before the 4th round of rookie drafts.
ELUSIVENESS
Allen struggled in this area. He does not have the short-area quickness and explosion to evade many tackles. He does have some craft and deceptiveness to his game, as evidenced by his respectable number of missed tackles in college (per PFF). However, his athletic limitations kept him from being able to string together consecutive moves, or accelerate away after forcing a missed tackle. As a result, he would often make a man “miss” but then get immediately gang tackled with no extra yardage to show for it.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

Allen profiles as a runningback that will benefit best in being part of a committee. His skillset requires a team with a good offensive line, that does not ask him to do a ton on his own.
