RELEASE/ROUTE RUNNING
Virgil has a limited release package, relying on subtle footwork to create initial separation. He lacks explosiveness both at the line of scrimmage and out of his breaks, which allows defenders to recover. While there are occasional flashes of crisp routes, he too often rounds them and fails to sink his hips effectively. His route tree is fairly basic, primarily consisting of go routes and comebacks.
PHYSICALITY
He plays with effort and toughness relative to his size, but his frame limits him. More physical corners can disrupt his routes, and he struggles to fight through contact, especially at the catch point. While he shows a willingness to battle for extra yards, it does not always translate into results.
YARDS AFTER CATCH
He competes for extra yards after the catch and will flash occasional jukes, but it does not consistently lead to significant production. He has good long speed but lacks the short area quickness to turn short passes into explosive gains.

ATHLETICISM
Virgil is a solid straight-line athlete with good speed, but he lacks short-area quickness and explosion. He is more of a build-up runner and does not consistently create separation through athleticism.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Virgil projects as a depth receiver with some value as a straight-line option in space. However, limitations in route running, physicality, and overall explosiveness significantly cap his upside and likely keep him in a situational role and is a player we are avoiding in drafts.
BALL SKILLS
He shows solid hands in space and does a good job extending to catch the ball away from his frame. However, he struggles in traffic and offers very little as a contested catch option due to his slim build. He does not hand fight well at the catch point and has some inconsistency tracking the ball downfield leading to frustrating drops.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

He profiles best as a WR3 on a team needing a field stretcher. Teams like the Eagles, Ravens, and Jets come to mind.
