Recliner Rating:

RELEASE/ROUTE RUNNING

Roush lacks the explosiveness and nuance to consistently beat man coverage. He shows efficient footwork at times, particularly on slant routes, but he is best at uncovering against zone coverage, where his understanding of soft spots and positioning shines.

YARDS AFTER CATCH

A lack of athleticism and explosiveness limits Roush's YAC ability. He has solid ball skills, but is not one create missed tackles in the open field with elusiveness. One note we had was once the ball is in his hands, his sheer size and physicality make him a tough player to bring down.

ATHLETICISM

Roush is a below-average athlete overall. He has adequate top-end speed but lacks the burst and quickness to be a dynamic pass-catching threat.

BLOCKING

Blocking is where Roush truly shines and the primary reason he will command draft capital. He features a strong anchor in pass protection and demonstrates excellent awareness of schemes and assignments. In the run game, he can pull effectively and climb to the second level to spring running backs. He is as pro-ready as any tight end in this class in this phase.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Roush will earn solid draft capital due to his pro readiness and elite blocking ability. He profiles as a multiple tight-end scheme fit who will contribute heavily in the run game and catch the occasional pass against zone coverage. His lack of top-end athleticism prevents him from being a dynamic fantasy option, so we recommend avoiding him in dynasty rookie drafts outside of very deep leagues.

BALL SKILLS

Roush possesses solid ball skills with good tracking ability and soft hands. He has plus length that helps at the catch point, but he lacks the leaping ability and top-end contested-catch dominance to be a truly reliable ball-winner in traffic.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

Roush profiles as a backup tight end that would be best used in a system where is not required to be the primary pass catcher.
