Recliner Rating:

RELEASE/ROUTE RUNNING

Hurst shows strong footwork at the release point and consistently sinks his hips to create separation with sharp breaks. His release package lacks variety and physical corners can disrupt timing, but his change-of-direction skills make him effective on rhythm-based routes and in timing-driven passing games.

PHYSICALITY

Physicality is a concern for Hurst on film, as defenders who get hands on him can disrupt his timing and routes. He doesn’t consistently hand fight through contact and struggles against physical corners, and that lack of strength shows up after the catch where breaking tackles is limited.

YARDS AFTER CATCH

Hurst’s speed and burst show up after the catch, allowing him to pull away from defenders when he finds open space. He reads blocks well and understands how to work into space, but he isn’t overly physical and usually goes down on first contact. When schemed into space, though, he can be a dangerous weapon.

ATHLETICISM

Hurst flashes legit speed on film, quickly eating up cushion with a strong initial burst and rapid acceleration. He’s a twitchy athlete at the stem who flips his hips cleanly to create separation, giving him upside as a vertical threat. His athleticism for his size is very impressive and will help him with the adjustment in competition at the NFL level.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Hurst offers intriguing upside thanks to his footwork, route-running foundation, and athleticism, making him an appealing fit in the right NFL scheme. While he still needs refinement in the more intricate parts of the position and may be inconsistent early, his skill set gives him developmental fantasy appeal with room to grow into a usable role. Due to lack of sufficient game film, we are not able to assign a ReclinerRating.

BALL SKILLS

Hurst’s ball skills are a mixed bag on film. He shows a good catch radius and can climb the ladder to secure throws away from his frame, particularly on back-shoulder targets and sideline catches. However, physical defenders limit his ability to win jump balls, and concentration drops show up too frequently on film.

IDEAL TEAM FITS

The best fit for Hurst would be on a team where he could come in and develop as a WR2/WR3. A team with an established passing attack and WR1 would be ideal for him.
